Billy Joel and Rod Stewart’s announcement of an upcoming concert at Browns Stadium this fall has generated mixed responses within this city, from those enthusiastic to others taking issue with such a high-profile act coming here.
Regarding those in the latter camp, Cleveland Browns owner Whitney Haslam Johnson maintains her company has performed its due diligence on how this concert can contribute to boosting the economy. She points to data showing concerts at the venue generate billions in revenue each year and predicts this show will be an enormous success. By inviting big names like him, it helps attract people outside game day attendance to come into the stadium. Joel seems to agree, praising Cleveland as “state-of-the-art,” while calling it an ideal location to live. A man of many talents, Joel will bring his unique brand of comedy to Cleveland during his performance show. Roger Stewart will join James to provide piano, guitar and vocals during their concert scheduled for Friday September 13th; ticket sales open up this Friday (Citi cardmembers can purchase tickets before general public); all ticket prices can be found on their event’s website; yet it remains to be seen which other artists might join this duo onstage; stay tuned with News 5 for further updates!
