He showcased New York in Florida with flair, including showing clips of the Brooklyn Bridge during “Movin’ Out.” Crashing waves accompanied “The Downeaster Alexa,” as well as a triumphant rendition of “New York State of Mind.”

Sting made his first Tampa performance since 1993 when he sang with Joel at Radio City Music Hall. Since then, Sting has owned a home in Coral Gables and plans to perform with Joel several more co-headlining shows this year, such as San Diego on April 13, St. Louis September 27 and two dates in October/November. Additionally he will play several shows this summer with Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks.

Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic

Ghost in the Machine by The Police became an international success after its second single, “King of Pain”, outperformed its predecessor “King of Pain”. This song also achieved chart success across Canada, Germany and Australia; additionally being covered by The Nylons on their a capella album Play On and Girl Talk’s Feed the Animals CD as well as sampled by Juice Wrld for use in his mashup tracks.

Billy Joel and Sting kicked off their co-headlining tour at Raymond James Stadium with gusto Saturday night, performing hits from each artist’s extensive catalogues and duets together onstage – with fans catching every moment on video! Highlights included their rendition of “Big Man on Mulberry Street”, with them both facing each other singing it together; fans captured this special moment via livestream video! Their appearance marked their first collaboration since 2014’s Madison Square Garden collaboration, with Joel drawing heavily from his solo catalog such as songs such as “Piano Man” and “New York State of Mind”.

Fields of Gold

Sting brought new energy to hits like “Message in a Bottle”, “Brand New Day” and “Fields of Gold”, while lengthening several songs to create dramatic tension and release, including spending 12 minutes or so performing Middle Eastern-influenced “Desert Rose”.

Joel seems revitalized despite his age (and several doomed marriages, celebrity mishegas and record company shenanigans). His voice sounded rich and full on winning renditions of You May Be Right, Vienna and Scenes From an Italian Restaurant while his keyboard work was sharp.

Sting, who dedicated Fields of Gold to Eva Cassidy who passed away recently and whom he considered one of his biggest influences. Ellis sang lead vocals throughout Joel’s set and delivered a strong rendition of Roxanne while also strumming ukulele for Englishman in New York – two tracks which will reunite later on April 13 in San Diego.

Turn the Lights Back On

Joel surprised fans after 17 years without an original song with the release of Turn the Lights Back On, an emotive ballad that explores relationships and considers whether or not it’s too late to turn back on.

Musically, this song begins with a piano melody before evolving into more orchestrated soundscape. Joel’s voice remains powerful – he can sing at high volumes while maintaining breath control to add emotional charge to each note he sings.

Fans of Billy Joel have eagerly anticipated his comeback and were overjoyed when he made an appearance at the Grammys to debut a brand new single at this year’s show, while also planning on touring baseball stadiums alongside Stevie Nicks, Sting and Rod Stewart throughout 2019. Additionally he’s set up his Madison Square Garden residency this summer – making this comeback one of success for sure! It is safe to say Billy Joel made an incredible comeback with his first single in over 10 years – his return has certainly been welcomed by his fans everywhere!
