Garth Brooks is one of the most successful and acclaimed artists in modern music history, boasting record sales exceeding 148 million units through RIAA; second only to The Beatles but ahead of Elvis Presley. As an honoree inducted into both the Country Music Hall of Fame and International Songwriters Hall of Fame he also received our nation’s highest civilian honour, The Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Brooks is an exceptional entertainer who masterfully blends orchestral performance with country singer appeal, creating a distinctive combination that has cemented him a place in people’s hearts around the globe. Not only has he gained worldwide acclaim from concert tours but also hosted multiple television shows and movies, appeared in Broadway productions, hosted live radio broadcasts, written books authored his autobiographies among many other accomplishments.

Brooks remains humble despite his success, and values spending time with family. Together with Trisha Yearwood, he and their two children share a ranch in Yukon, Oklahoma.

Brooks may not be one of the most technically adept singers, but his ability to connect with an audience makes him one of the greatest live performers I’ve seen. He can stand alongside Diana Ross and Prince in creating an atmosphere where their crowd feels engaged with one another – truly legendary performers!

Brooks was raised in rural Oklahoma near Tulsa by his petroleum driller father and mother who sang with Ozark Jubilee during the 1950s, with both parents working in petroleum drilling; music played a prominent role throughout his upbringing despite baseball, football, track & field and javelin competition for which he earned track & field scholarships at Oklahoma State University Stillwater where he competed javelin competition; but music always remained present in his life.

At 19, Brooks met record producer Allen Reynolds in Nashville who encouraged him to focus more on songwriting than performing. Reynolds helped develop Brooks’ sound and style which became more traditional country, leading his career into rapid expansion.

In the 1990s, he revolutionized country music and impacted popular culture, selling out stadiums worldwide while winning many accolades from his peers in the industry.

Though Brooks has scaled back his career since 2005, he still continues to perform. He currently holds down a Las Vegas residency and plans to launch his own radio network via TuneIn later this summer. Furthermore, albums continue to be released, and this fall will witness the opening of Friends In Low Places bar and honky-tonk.

Billboard Country Live hosted an interview between Brooks and its host. They spoke of his past, present, and future in music as they examined his legacy, relationship with fans, and why social media didn’t exist at a younger artist stage of his career.
